In February, Joe and I produced a determination that for the duration of 2013, we would make sure we got commenced on the enormous venture that is our kitchen renovation. You can study what I said here.
Despite the fact that it does not technically count as a New Year’s resolution (despite it becoming a complete lot a lot more inventive than the regular “lose weight” and “get healthy”) it actually was our major aim for the year in terms of the residence.
I imagined, with 2013 now behind us, it would be a fantastic opportunity to see how far we created that purpose a reality. And I’m really pleased to demonstrate you how far we’ve come.
First, let’s see what the kitchen looked like in February, when I produced that announcement.
Fairly attractive, eh?
After an extension across the back of the residence, several delays in construction, and living in a residence which was most of the time an obstacle course, I think we’ve done alright.
Beneath, is a sneaky appear into the computer patterns we have been offered to illustrate the layout of our kitchen, and comparing it to how our kitchen seems right now.
You can see that it’s even now a bit messy what with our fridge and washing machine banged in the middle of the space, quickly to be integrated and hidden. Also, the flooring and worktops are not exactly what we asked for. They’re just there for layout purposes.
BUT, you could also discover that some of the units are starting up to go into spot as they are getting unpacked. It might get a bit of imagination but you can truly see the actuality matching up to the layout types. Joe invested our last day off work above the Christmas holidays giving the whole space a base coat of white emulsion. And boy, does that make a big difference! Already it’s beginning to really feel cleaner.
I’m genuinely proud of 2013 and what we’ve done. Confident, it’s taken a heck of a great deal longer than expected, and I’d be lying if I explained there haven’t been days in which I just wished to pack up and move. In fact, scrap that, I wouldn’t even need to pack because our existence is in boxes! Needless to say, it’s been a really thrilling trip which I’m so glad we took the plunge on. And soon – truly soon – it’s going to be all accomplished, and all ours.
