Several of you are possibly not mindful of this as I haven’t truly publicised it until finally extremely lately but I imagined is was about time I shared some great news with you. My husband and I are new dad and mom! Little one Matylda arrived on the 11th December 2013, bang on her due date, which is very unusual for very first babies, so I’m told. So we’ve had a good deal of large changes take place for us in 2013 we purchased our 1st flat collectively in October and now we are mother and father. It’s been a pretty busy number of months and that’s why I’ve been blogging a little significantly less than normal. We’ve had decorating to do, although to be truthful we really don’;t truly have the money just now to get the flat specifically how we’d like it so this will be on ongoing undertaking for us. We did manage to do the livingroom though and I’m actually extremely happy with that. Perhaps I’ll do a separate publish on that in the new yr. But for now I needed to share a quite special task with you and one particular that I am really proud of…our woodland nursery.

When we moved into our new flat the whole place was floor to ceiling magnolia in every single area so not really inspiring and undoubtedly not very stimulating for a new little one as you can see from the ahead of photos I took above (sorry about the poor good quality of the photos, the winter lighting proved a true challenge). We had been just beginning to consider about if and how we could redecorate on a really tight price range when I was contacted by Dulux about a new undertaking it was launching to celebrate the Let’s Colour Ensure and the Let’s Colour Weekends. Following a latest research that reveals how embarrassed Brits are with their properties and how it’s affecting their lives, Dulux decided to launch a challenge to interior bloggers to help Brits get much more daring with colour in their homes.

According to research more than 2 thirds of Brits are ashamed of their house and a shocking 47 percent keep away from possessing close friends or family in excess of as a end result. Additionally, the average Brit is embarrassed of at least 1 space in their home and 1 in 10 Brits do not like a single room in their current home, stating dated or marked carpets, faded pain2rk and a negative colour schemes as the main causes. Bedrooms, bathrooms and livingrooms have been discovered to be the rooms we are most embarrassed of and colourful décor was discovered to be the key ingredient to achieving a property that we Brits are content with. An astounding 97 % stated that bright colors on their walls uplifted their mood, made them content and created a room they needed to be in.

Dulux innovative director, Marianne Shillingford mentioned:

“The review reveals what we at Dulux have believed for a prolonged time the property is a lot more than someplace you dwell, it’s a central portion of your life! We firmly think in the electrical power of colour and how it can be employed to produce a stunning residing room that can make folks feel excellent when they are in it and want to share that feeling with other individuals. We’re hoping our Let’s Colour Assure will give Brits the possibility to improve their residence with self confidence and reassurance.”

And I have to say I agree totally with Marianne. It’s so critical to truly feel very good in your own house and having the correct colour scheme is an integral part of the way you really feel about your property. So the Dulux Blogger Challenge couldn’t have come at a greater time for us. But what did the challenge involve? Well, I was asked to decide on a Dulux colour that’s bold, vivid and a shade I’ve constantly deemed using but have hesitated to apply, and to use it to redecorate a space in my home. Dulux then kindly provided me with 2.5 litres of paint, totally free of charge, to use for the task. And the excellent factor was, that due to the Dulux Let’s Colour Guarantee, if I didn’t like the final result, Dulux would provide me with an option paint shade so that I could adjust it to one thing I would be happier with – just like they are supplying buyers. This took all the dread and fret out of redecorating so I was satisfied to dive straight in.

Jungle Fever Green Paint by Dulux 700

I decided I wished to use 2 colours in the nursery and at the second I’m really loving shades of green. I had just painted my living room in Dulux’s Moss Blanket and I locate it ever so calming so I believed probably green would be a great colour for a gender neutral nursery (we didn’t know whether or not we had been obtaining a woman or a boy!). I opted for Jungle Fever in shades 3 and 5 and I think they are the excellent colors for our woodland theme. I made a decision to paint 2 walls in every single colour so the area wasn’t too dark as 4 walls in Jungle Fever 3 may have been a bit a lot. We also made the decision that it would be a wonderful thought to paint some trees on the walls and for this we decide on 2 shades of brown in Velvet Truffle 2 and 3. Soon after drawing a rough sketch of what the trees would appear like we just dug straight in and marked them out on the wall with Frog Tape (if you really don’;t know what Frog Tape is, then I definitely advise you pay out a go to to the internet site as it’s a must have painting tool).

When all 4 walls had been painted and the trees had been finished, it was just the finishing touches that we essential to do. We place some shelves over the modifying table which we have used to display an array of small stuffed woodland animals. We bought a set of 4 side plates from Magpie and mounted them on the wall over the cotbed. The Beasties assortment is Magpie’s first collaboration with Carola Van Dyke and will take 4 of Carola’s wonderful applique textile animals – Mr. Badger, Mr. Fox, Mr. Hare and Mr. Stag – and locations them on ceramic plates. We bought some actually cute repositionable woodland animal stickers by RoomMates and dotted these around the space. And ultimately we moved a few things from other rooms in the property as they appeared to fit significantly better in the nursery. We place up 2 hangers – one butterfly hanger and one particular of 2 adore birds – from Muslavi Gallery that were previously hanging up in our bedroom and we also made a decision that our ceramic property lamp that we acquired from Subsequent as portion of my styling challenge was a best addition to the nursery.

I’d enjoy to know what you guys think of our small one’s nursery and also I’d be really interested to study your feedback on the study that inspired Dulux’s blogger challenge in the initial location. What result does colourful décor have on the way that you truly feel about your home?

I would like to thank Dulux for inviting me to take component in the Blogger Challenge and kindly offering the paint. I would also like to thank my mum who created me the lovely quilt and cot bumper for the cotbed (she’s so talented!).
