2014: Year Of The Door

Whilst it’s most likely a bit late to set a resolution with the shiny promise of a new year attached to it, that doesn’t imply I can’t set ambitions for our residence in 2014.

Final yr, I did the very same – albeit in February – aiming to get our massive kitchen renovation began, at the extremely least, if not finished. You can read through about that right here.

Well, if you read through my website often, you will most likely be sick of hearing about that! (SO numerous updates coming on this which I just haven’t had opportunity to publish however.) But at least it received done. I can officially tick that a single firmly off our list, and setting that purpose actually assisted us to remain centered and hold pushing forward, determined to achieve anything – so essential when you’re living in a home with a million half-completed tasks.

So for 2014 a single issue I actually want to get done is a new front door.

Confident, there is really a pretty hefty record of what I’d like, but let’s keep issues straightforward.

I went to Berlin in December 2013 with my ideal good friend, Holly. We walked about the Christmas markets, armed with the most amazing hot chocolates, and I couldn’t support but notice how beautiful the grand doors are in the city. It created my sad tiny front door search wretched on my return property! See for yourselves some of my faves…

Our recent front door is haggard. It is fascinating to see our street turn into modernised and it is genuinely in a state of transition with Joe & I not becoming the only residence in makeover-mode. But it does appear that we are one particular of the remaining properties with the authentic front door in.

Right here are the principal problems with what we curfrently have:

-It is unsightly.
-It lets out heat and tends to make our hallway officially the coldest space in the house.
-It’s not secure. Currently being created of glass panels, this is a protection dilemma to me.
-It was damaged when we flooded the downstairs.
-Did I mention that I believe it’s unsightly?

I’ve talked in the past about what door I’d like to get a single day (here). We’d love a composite but it may possibly be a bit unrealistic for us price range-sensible. I’d love to have a blue door where feasible. I’d really like for it to be double-glazed and hold all that heat in.

I really do not know how achievable all of people factors are but that is what we’ll be functioning on obtaining out in 2014.
