Remarkable venture layout of Split See Mountain Lodge at Havsdalen, Buskerud, comes from the drawing board of Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, who share with us their venture. According to them: This vacation house has a clear and clean-cut expression. The volume has a primary wing, housing largely bedrooms, which naturally adapts to the terrain and divides into 2 branches of residing zones.
From the Architects:
The holiday property is found near the village Geilo, a well-known skiing destination in the valley Hallingdal. Ski resorts are abundant about the lodge, with a freestyle terrain park proper subsequent to the internet site. Out of winter season, the mountains provide outstanding hiking possibilities as nicely as other sporting pursuits. The family of 4 with anticipation of a fifth addition offered a straight-forward system for their mountain lodge: 4 bedrooms, separate residing and dining locations, a youth lounge and a mezzanine for the younger children. In addition a tiny annex would accommodate visitors and visiting grandparents.
Our response was a cabin of clear and clean-reduce expression with a continuous skin of timber cladding on the exterior walls and roof, which will get a grey patina with time. The volume consists of a major physique, housing mostly bedrooms, which follow the natural contours of the landscape and splits into 2 residing zones. This shift in program and use of a number of ranges permits the constructing to adapt to the slope of the website. The separate volume of the annex is placed in extension of the principal physique, contributing to the 3 characteristic split views by means of fully glazed end walls.
The cabin is entered beneath the cantilevered glazed volume into a hall with polished in-situ concrete floor, working as an intermediate zone to take away ski boots and outside clothes. A wooden stair ascends from the lower basement and opens onto the generous area of the residing quarters, capped by a complex ceiling of pitched planes substantial above. At the core of the holiday residence, where the separate wings branch off from the primary entire body in prepare, is the kitchen. Its countertop of glass fiber reinforced concrete is cantilevered into the center of the room and anchored by a 2-sided fireplace at the other end. Methods go onto separate spaces for dining and comforting by the suspended 2nd fireplace.
The extruded type of the structure frames the spectacular views from inside the cabin, while strategically positioned smaller openings along its volume provides glimpses of the instant surroundings. The elevated levels of the residing and dining places offer its occupants with a substantial degree of privacy, additional loved by ample seating niches inside of the outer walls. The interior floor, walls and ceiling are homogenously lined with nearly knot-free joinery timber, although all opening frames are concealed or discrete. The focus to detail and higher quality is comprehensive and coherent all through the venture.
Through sliding doors along the hallway of the narrow main entire body is each and every of the bedrooms as nicely as a bathroom with sauna. The master bedroom opens onto a gable-shaped window extruded by way of the side wall for an outlook onto the evening sky, while each and every of the children’s bedrooms has a loft bunk bed for going to friends. At the far finish of the hall is the youth lounge and overhead mezzanine with views through the glazed gable end straight onto the ski slope.
The mountain lodge is a continuation of Norwegian creating traditions in form and materiality, perched superbly within its landscape and responding to its context.
