Who would have ever guessed that partially burned wood pieces could provide furniture that is past elegant? Ukrainian designer Yaroslav Galant identified that charred wood can be employed in different interior schemes with striking aesthetic effects. His “Born 2B Burn up” collection (at first spotted by Freshome on Captivatist) can be organically adapted to various design concepts from classical to eclectic and contemporary.
The designer shares some strategies regarding his manufacturing approach: “Furniture frame is charred at temperature about 2000°F. The brief-phrase influence of large temperature carbonizes surfaces with correct colour and texture, even though the wood core nevertheless remains undamaged. Right after cooling down, the furniture is impregnated with a specific substance epioftonol (patented by Yaroslav Galant). On the last stage the wooden surface is varnished”.
