It was really like at first sight when we initial noticed the fairly retro patterns on the Caslon&Co cushions, tea towels, oven mitts and aprons.
The patterns are produced using antique wooden letterpress printing blocks known as ornaments and fleurons which printers historically employed to include decorative flair to books and posters. They are rarely utilised nowadays of course and Caslon&Co designer Andy Rouse has given them a new lease of daily life by putting his assortment to excellent use (and he’s acquired very a collection) making patterns for the residence.
Once printed the fabrics are developed into homeware and decorative add-ons by experienced craftsmen and females in the Uk.
The rather beautiful kitchen aprons are a specific favourite of ours as they add a small vintage type to baking or cooking sessions although covering all the practicalities!
Caslon&Co will be exhibiting on the Heart Residence stand at House London from twelve – 14 January. Earls Court 2, London.
Heart Residence magazine will be on stand M46.
Also in association with Pressloft Uk.
