For our extremely 1st Christmas problem of Heart House, stylist Karl Openshaw invited us to scour the countryside to find cost-effective techniques of making festive displays from identified objects.
Twigs, foliage, berries, pine cones and fading hydrangea heads have been utilised to develop a stunning wreath that was interspersed with the yellowed pages of previous paperback books. It was so beautiful we knew straight away that it would be on our cover.
A fantastic table decoration was assembled using colourful foliage, vivid red berries, much more pine cones and whatever could be found.
He also employed previous vines and twigs tied with florists wire to make long garlands that were entwined around candlesticks and other treasured objects on a console table. What better way to greet your holiday guests?
And best of all. You really don’;t have to spend a fortune!
